There she met her husband, Jacob and had two beautiful children; her daughter, IxChel who is now 14 and her son, Maitreya who is now 20. Both of her children attended Rudolf Steiner Waldorf schools where she worked as an assistant preschool teacher for 6 years and discovered the joy of working with 3-6 year old children.

In 2005, Athena immigrated back to Colorado to live more closely to her mother. She took an assistant teaching position at Lyons Community Montessori school for a year and then decided to go to the Montessori Education Center of the Rockies (MECR) in Boulder. This was a turning point in her life. She fell deeply in love with the philosophy and saw how it worked in the classroom. She discovered how children are the key to the evolution of mankind.

Her passion is in the field of Montessori Education and in particular, Peace Education. She enjoys all the arts and skills of peaceful living. She is thankful every day that her path led her to Montessori. This work with children is her true joy and she hopes to continue until she is an old woman. She honors the light in each human being.
